After the totally unexpected more or less an hour meeting and chatting with Phillip, we left Herbertsdale with a kind of muted strange emotion. We still had about 100k's home, and we decided to still stick to gravel as much as possible. This gave me some time to think about the "reason" for crossing Phillip's path - at first I thought it was a clear message to quit biking, but I have been there before 11yrs ago when I lost my best friend also through a bike accident.
Eventually I realised that the message through Phillip was rather to really appreciate what you have - enjoy and cherish every single moment!!

We stopped at Mooiuitsig Kombuis between Great Brak and George for a snack and one last toast ...  :thumleft:
From here we split up and went home with fond memories and lots of stories ... McSack continued his journey via the Seven Passes road to Knysna, and I really hope he is safely back home (Joburg) by now!!!
I stopped 2k's from home for a last coffee, and while having my coffee at Chinno's, I sat and look at my bike. To my great surprise I noticed that my rear tyre was going flat!  ::) Needless to say - I completed the last 2k's with the flat - no repairs now!!!

Thanks to my friends and thanks to everybody that has taken the time to read our story!!  :thumleft:

Great story guys. Good mates on a 'leaker' ride in our beautiful country.

Certainly got me thinking about my next trip out that way.

On a lighter note - some data on each bike in this story and a picture of each taken in the "Moordenaars Karoo" on Day 5 ... (each one has been bought "new" by its current owner)

1.       2010 Suzuki DR650   -  50 000km
2.       2012 Honda XR650L  -  33 000km
3.       2014 Triumph 800XC -  26 000km

Nou ja, hier is n paar van my foto's.

Sign in bathroom at restaurant at Stilbay harbor

Sir Sam taking center stage at Montague for the rugby...

Me getting splashed by Hannes.

Die gemmerkoekie by Sutherland...
