Throttle get stuck

When I ride (XR650L) and let go of the throttle it doesn't turn back to idle position. It gets stuck. Can it be the cable that is worn and friction is to much for self release or maybe at the carb itself? Wil it help if I put oil through the cable or rather replace the cable? Bike has 21000km on.
Any advice, please?
