I klaared first into Kroonstad with the Engineering Corps. but found the place incredibly boring ;) Then the various Spes guys came around recruiting and I could hardly believe it when the guys mentioned WHAT....BIKES  :thumleft: Signed up and transferred out the following week to Potch for training...... That was back in '90, all I wanted then was to go North but sadly just after completing training we were informed that no more missions up North and we would have to while aways our days in the States.......  :'( I then wished I had dropped out in 85 and joined earlier..... serious.... :'(

Must still say we had more fun than ANYBODY, and that time was some of the best......
Long live the Underdog.........

Hey Badger, would it be okay to hi-jack your thread and post some Bike Squad pics - still have a couple in a box in the garage?

Wherethefuckarewe has a pic of him kaalgat except for boots, Spes webbing and rifle with his wet browns tied to his bike flapping behind as he rides..... classic. He is trying to find it.

Is there anybody here that was in Bikesquad( or any other unit) based at Ruacana in 85 ?

That could be Johan Gray's (Hoofseun) year - maybe PM him as I don't think he is that active on the forum anymore

Just love this thread, so lekker to discover pics of one's younger years and reliving the olden days

I know Danie.... Mental :deal:
And I never needed more really..... how about you guys ?

If only we had pics of some of the shenanigans hey Danie?

We're you ever at Otavi when the wolves escaped...... bwahaha

Thanks Hondsekierie I will give him a shout because if he was I feel sorry because we caused a bit of kak and had to make a duck quickly.

It is also very nice to chat to other bikesquad guys from different intakes as we never overlapped during our 2 years.

I have never been to the Otavi camp, I did my full 18months using Swaspes Oshivello as a base. I klaared out in December 1980, and my brother Francois, also in BikeSquad,
made the move camp and all down to Otavi.

If we had pictures, or better videos, they'd go viral on Youtube! :thumleft: It was a parallel universe!

A friend of mine Robin Spence was in the bike squad, I think he was there around the same time as 2SD. He's in PE and is a WD member, he's seldom on the forum though. I don't know his forum name.

You guys should arrange a get together, sound like theres quite a few of you around still...... :peepwall: ;) ;D
