Badger & the rest of the bike squad guys, do any of you remember Peter Silver?

No...... he was not in my intake -1983.
There was only about 40 selected for bikesquad per year.
30 (1 platoon) for ops.
6 for demo team.
4 for RTU's and injuries.
(If my memory serves me well)
Good friends and fresh mud......

It is not about what you ride...... but WHO you ride with !

Corporal Silver? Around 1980/81 intake? I do believe that I remember him.

Any of you know the whereabouts of Charlie Holden? He was in my intake, 1979/80.

Maybe, I'll find out. I suspect he is only a year or two older than me, which would make him about an '84/'85 intake. But I may be mistaken. My parents revved me when I was cold, so I've aged prematurely!

Lets just say I visited very regularly between 85 and 89. I wore blue in the mess, and my overall was green  ;)

Aaah  our guardian angels....... thank you.
Pity I missed you in 84 as we were good mates with the Alo crews (or were you on the Puma's) and we would try and meet up in the bush and swop rides. :thumleft: :thumleft:

Trevor Binnder the father of Brad the young fellow doing so well at moto 3 was in the bike squad in 80 81 I believe .
We were good mates back then and rode and wheelied everything we could get our hands on .
I rode a DR400 with some of the guys on the Osikati Ondangwa road for a few weeks at the end of my boarder time . I was a medic and those Honda's would leave me way behind it was a blast and breakfast at the air force base was good . Wow a life time ago

Anybody recognize this guy?

This is the guy that was sent in whenever Chuck Norris, Rambo, Terminator, Grensvegter, Wit tier, Judge Dredd, Mad Max etc. got into trouble and needed to be
saved.
I was then already known as ..............2StrokeDan. :eek7:

What was under your luggage carrier ?

It was a small metal box, or cubby hole type of storage place. I use to put a plastic waterbottle in there and the sun would heat the water up so much that I only needed to add
ratpack powder coffee to the water, shake and drink hot coffee. :thumleft:
That specific Galil had the words "bike squad" engraved into the wooden handle by me, and on the photo it has a 50 round magazine fitted. [for show ;)

OK thanks .... we didn't have that... we just had a luggage rack that we would first strap the bloody big B52 radio then our kit.
I'm sure we got the same Galil's. .. they sure had ' Houding'.  I also loved the 50 round mag but we're hard to come by.( for show of course ;))

Badger, I still remember vividly the pleasure of simply emptying that 50 rounder in one trigger-squirt!!

No wonder the border war cost SA a million rand per day in 1979! :imaposer:
