I am willing to lend you my screen just to see if you like it. That way you can decide if you want one or not.

i'm already rollin'!  :D
for now i'm happy with the metzelers, they're lekker on the tar. will use them up first :) but i was eyeballin' them barkbusters, bashplate & engine bars, luggage rack and maybe a small screen...

Howsit, I still have my screen from my XCountry that I would like to sell. It is the same screen that is on NAZM's bike. They are awesome screens and really suite the XCountry. I kept it when I traded the XCountry in, but now it does not fit on my XChallenge.

PM me if you are keen on it.

Whooo hooo!
I am now officially the owner of a 2008 BMW Xcountry...  :ricky: :ricky: :ricky:

Bike was just delivered!

one small problem though... when I pushed the bike into and turned around  in my garage, the wheels seem.. stiff, as if not freewheeling, or as if the brakes are holding it. Makes a squeeeeeeek sound when the wheels turn, but I can't figure out if it's at the front or back???

oh pleeeease tell me it's nothing serious..

anybody have any idea???

thanks

ps sorry for the bad quality, this is a cellphone pic...

probably the front and probably not to serious, ride it for 1-2km and use the brakes a fair deal.

If the bike stands for a while the disks get a lil bit of a rust/buildup on them should go away..... though before you go ride it spin the wheel and check the disk isnt warped or the wheel badly lined up

Ride it a bit first (a few kilometers) to get the cobwebs off, then do as follows to check which wheel is being difficult ;

1. Put bike into Neutral with engine OFF,
2. Put the kickstand out (Down),
3. Standing on the left hand side of the bike, grab the rear right of the bike and pull up and towards you. This should lift the back wheel off the ground, balancing the bike on the sidestand.
4. You can then run the back wheel with your hand to see if it runs smoothly or if it is catching. (I usually just balance the bike against my legs and then lean over it to do this, although you may want somebody to help at first if you are not to confident)
NB, this is also a nice way of putting chain lube onto the bikes chain.  :thumleft:

5. Once this is done, you can check the front wheel in a similar fashion. Stand on the the left of the bike and while the sidestand is down, pull back and towards you on the handlebars. This will lift the front wheel in the air while balancing the bike on the sidestand.

Good Luck, I hope it is all ok!  :thumleft:

I have a screen for the XCountry I am trying to sell if you decide you want one  :D

aww thanks guys.. will see if I can rope in a slightly stronger friend in tonight to help with the checking..

ray, please hold that thought, at the moment my first priority is getting a crash bar.. but will let you know! In the meantime, could you pm me with a price please?

so if the wheel(s) wobbble, I need to get hold of the dealer that sold it to me? 3 month warranty...

thanks again for the advice.

cheers... ;D

hi guys

tried Ray's suggestion last night. the front wheel is not running free, seems the brake pad is either catching on the disc or I dunno.. there seems to be a a line running on the disc... back wheel is fine.

I have not ridden the bike yet, but have to take it for insurance inspection tomorrow morning. will see if the squeeek disappears, otherwise it goes back to the BMW dealer... bike is still under warranty from the factory (2008 model) as well as a separate 3 month warranty from the dealer so I will see..

you guys think i should put the registration number up in general and see if the previous owner is on the WD board?

thanks again, have a happy day!

hehehe kortgat here very happy with the swop!! >:D

on further inspection by the friendly Thinus at BMW Bavarian (NOT where I bought the bike from), it seems that the arm holding the front brake caliper is bent??? So one brake pad was completely worn down.. I felt the front brake grabbing a few times on the way there, nearly pitched myself over the handlebars...

so tomorrow I call the other dealer where I go the bike... whatever happened to pre-sales inspection???  ??? >:( :deal:

thanks, TG, the bike now feels GREAT!

Here's a few of my X around the NYC area. I'll be coming to Cape Town in January to do a ride up to Namibia probably on a rented X or GS.

I'll post some more in a bit...
