So after a minimal amount of planning we loaded 4 x bikes and headed for Kallys spot in Morgans Bay at sparrows on Friday morning, I was told that taking the coastal 4 x 4 route from the Kei river to our weekend destination would take a good 5 hours so we were eager to get going!
As can often happen we came across the 1st stumbling block almost immediately...after rushing to get to the ferry by 9 o clock and riding straight on board the operator informs us that this ferry isnt going anywhere until 12:30 as it was currently spring low tide and there is a sandbank silted over!!
We had no option but to wait it out :-\
