KTM 690 Suspension Setup
« on: November 24, 2015, 03:59:44 pm »
Howzit Guys

I am in Cape Town and would like to setup the suspension on my 690..

It is fine as it at the moment, but perhaps it could be better seeing that I haven't done it before.

Does anyone on the forum have advice on whom to go to or tools required that I can buy / borrow ?  :peepwall:

the only tools you should need is a shock spanner ( you would probably only use it once) and a skrewdriver, have a look in the owners manual it shows how to set everything

Something to think about...
When you complain, you make yourself a victim. Leave the situation, change the situation, or accept your it. All else is madness.

2009 TO 2011 690 R's had fantastic suspension [275mm] and you sat ON TOP of the bike. [MX feel]
From 2012 on wards the suspension went south [250mm] especially concerning high speed stability over rough terrain + you sat INTO the bike. My worst 690 was the 2014 and sold it because of that. [I think I have had 6 KTM 690's in total already.
This is only my personal experiences pertaining to my riding style.
I now have a 2013 and spent money on my problem.
I installed a Race Tech Gold Valve suspension kit, that also meant harder springs front and back. [I'm 75 Kg's]
Money well spent!
I now have the aggressive feel back on my 690 and love it.
They also give you a setup chart with the kit.
- I see that the new Husky 701 has gone back to the 275mm of suspension with a minor change in the frame up-front. It will be interesting to see if that is an improvement.
