We chose number 102, which involved cathing the Greyhound at 2:00am on Satuday morning.
In retrospects, I would rather have listened to rap music.
It was terrible. :eek7:

But I digress.....

Last week, me and Metaljockey made a deal. :deal:
It involved the purchasing of a bike. :ricky:

But him being in East London and me being in George required extensive logistical planning to finalise the deal.
Now, I could have taken my bakkie to fetch the bike, but whats the fun in that?
So me and Mrs Kaboef decided we would make a trip out of it, and ride the bike back to George.

So, as I said before, we took the Greyhound at 2am Saturday morning from George.
We put all our gear in a big backpack and walked the the bus stop, about 3km from our house in the dead of night.
I carried my helmet in my hands and wore my riding jacket against the cold.

From here I will skip to about 10 hours later.
I dont want to remind myself about the torturous bus journey, its enough to make grown men cry. ??? ???

So we arrived in a windy East London at about 12noon on Saturday and Metaljockey picked us up.
Being Metaljockey, as we drove home, he casually remarked as we were driving along: "daar ry ek nounet oor 'n slang". I've never driven over a snake, and if I do one day, I'll be making much more of a noise.
After all, its not everyday one drives over a snake in the main street of Genubie. :eek7:

So, we got to the MJ house and I got to see my purchase for the first time.

Michus joined us for a beer and something to eat at their local watering hole.
Splendid people, the lot of 'em.
Pity they live out there in the bush.
One of the rare photos in existence of a smiling Metaljockey. ;)

Anyhoooo, we bid our farewell and headed to Fort Beaufort to the in-laws.
The plan was to sleep there and ride the rest of the way to George on Sunday.

Here Mrs Kaboef checks out the new boney and to see if she could wheelie it. ;D

We got the in-laws and had a splendid evening of catching up.
We both were knackered after the long bus journey and not enough sleep, so we had an early evening.
Somewhere during the evening I saw that a Martian wrote a book. It was lying next to the bed.

Martians - more religious than we think.......

We awoke to a beautiful morning and me and father-in-law promptly made a fire to braai some steaks.

Kuiering around the fire at 9am in the morning.

We took our leave at 13:00 (after a brief nap) and took the shortest, straightest road home.
Now, dont let the words fool you, as home was about 600k's away.

To cut a long story short, we arrive home at just before 7pm.
Very cold, very dark.

I got a terrible headache just after Stormsrivier, and in Plett I stopped for Grandpa.
It was so bad I felt like I would puke in my helmet. The darkness on the N2, the cold, and the fact that I was carrying a pillion did not help either.
Luckily the worst of it was over when we pulled into George.

We went straight to the pizza place

Then home for a warm shower and a nice glass of red wine as I'm typing this.

How did the bike do?
Not too badly, not too badly at all. ;) ;D :ricky:
