KTM 690 ENDURO R IDLING ISSUES
« on: December 02, 2015, 07:04:31 pm »
Hi guys.

My bike started doing something funny this evening... It keeps cutting out at low speeds, especially when approaching a robot or when idling. I then need to shift to neutral before i can start it again... Any ideas what this can be? Battery maybe?

Its a 2010 with 9300km on.. ???:'(

I had that start happening to me. Some 100km later the injector was clogged up bad enough that I could get to 100kmph. See how it runs and go from there. It's pretty easy to clean out your injector.

That sounds like either the battery or the stator, especially requiring to start in neutral.  Other possible issue that causes the same symptom will be a loose wire on the coil.  Check the connectors, they can work loose.  Then check that the spark plug wire is making good contact at both ends.

Once that is done and it wasn't any of those, check spray pattern on the injector.

I took my 2013 690 to Julian of Super Bike Solutions in Somerset West and he cleaned up my bottom end beautifully. [The bikes not mine]
It's idling ever so slightly higher, but it is a very big improvement.
Also the slow speed riding is a lot smoother and better.
I'm a happy Bunny. [Excuse the pun]

Why do you have to go to neutral to restart?

Sound to me like a issue with a clutch lever switch.
