Too much is never enough....
« on: December 15, 2015, 12:21:32 pm »
No value added to the suspension, brakes , performance?

Even with the xtra I jsut feel it is not enough to justify the price.......... even in light of the cost of the "xtra's"... but then different strokes..

The thing no-one understands with custom builds, and I mean builds, not bolt-on, is
the work that goes into it. Just to strip down and put together is a few days work.
This is skilled labour, so put a cost to that at even R500/hr and see how quickly
a few days adds up. Lawyers, developers, consultants etc will charge over R1k /hr
and no-one blinks, but let a skilled fabricator charge half that, then its overpriced.
Sometimes you need to step back and see the effort, skill and design capabilities of the
guy to appreciate the cost. Go and have your bike custom sprayed, and then come
back and tell me that its only parts you should be paying for.

Beebop,  noted,  but I'd ask "did it add value?" Just as many add-ons,  it does not increase value,  rather the opposite in many cases.

The value of these is often so the creator only, I grant that.
Look at for example the OCC stuff. A lot of it I wouldnt touch
if you gave it to me, but they get top dollar for once off custom builds.
Also some of them are nice to look at but are virtually unrideable.
Its all about what you prepared to pay for something unique.
They are usually a heart and not a head buy.

R150 000 for that lame R9T is already out the house, let alone R249 000 for this "streetfighter".

But I can imagine many fools would be stepping over the Donford doorsill. It should fly.

As with many things,"too much" is a relative expression. It could be said that anyone who rides a motorcycle for recreation has too much money, even seriously poor gits like me.
It's really a question of how much too much is too much, which is unanswerable if you  really have too much too much.  :patch:

I believe it is quite certain that for this bike the asking price is just way too much muchness. I see zero special on it.

Oor n paar jaar is so n fiets fokkol werd.
My rides:

Super Hex TTI Alexithymia with completely unnecessary, but very expensive Nemophilistic suspension. Electroflux Gogglemaster Oenophilia Edition. 1983 (very rare) Yonderly Bawhair with heated grips.
