Fuel Pump ktm 690 where can I get

Hi Guys
I will be coming to SA for a few weeks and were thinking of taking some long overnight rides so thought it might be a good idea to get a spare fuel pump. Is there anywhere in SA where I can get a aftermarket one like the cycleworks one or do you guys just use the standard ktm one if yours fails.

Thanks for the offer but would be better to have a spare myself, will look at the fuelperformace one looks like a good deal :-), slowly building up my spares to do the ride from SA to Tanzania :-)

checked the site out now, looks like a very cool fuel pump and some teabag filter :-), will order it and keep it for spare or maybe replace the current one and make that the spare

The one on fuelperformance.co.za mentions that it is for 2007-2013.  The KTM manual indicates that the 2014 fuel pump is a new part.  Does anyone know what the difference is?

When I replace the fuel pump what do I need other than

Anything else needed? Like pipes, clamps, filter sack or some other random shit?

Is a external filter necessary? I recon that whatever coating was in the tank has been washed out now after 20000km so my only problem will be sand getting into the tank.

The black will continue to leach out of the tank while there is fuel in it.  Some of the black stuff in the filter is the carbon from the fuel pump brushes.

Anyone tried the 2007-2013 pump in anything newer? Having some starting problems where the engine turns over but wont start for long while - normally requiring turning the ignition off and on a couple of times.

Cars have been using plastic tanks with in-tank pumps for many years, I have never seen this before. Could it be from somewhere else, or a wrong grade plastic for a fuel tank?

I think the fact that KTM uses transparent filters means that it can be seen.  Most cars will use a metal FI filter.  But, based on the fact that I'm not seeing black deposits in the 350/450/500 filters using the same pumps, lead me to conclude that the black deposits are from the tank rather than the pumps (atrocious English, that bit  )

Can anyone confirm this, I'm really not in the mood to have to buy one from KTM.

Hi, just a quick note from my side, I have not bought one yet, but decided I would rather buy a proper replacement instead of the chinese knockoffs. The I am going to get this (http://www.rally-raidproducts.co.uk/KTM-690-Enduro-R-SMC/performance-upgrades/ktm-690-enduro-fuel-pump) but from the states as its cheaper. Note sure if it will fit your model though :-)

I fitted a generic Bosch unit (much larger, uprated pump; also fits the 800/1200GS bikes) from Midas to my 2011 690.  I had to make some small modifications to the plastic housing to make it fit. Then I never had another problem.  Also only cost R400.
