Newbie to adventure riding

Hi guys been shopping around for an adventure and come across a few but need some advice. The 3 bikes at my disposal are 2011 ktm 990 adventure s , 22000 km ; and the 2012 triumph tiger 800xc abs , 2400km, i've taken the tiger for a ride and i'm very impressed but the ktm is a collectors item and all i've heard on the forums and post is that it can become expensive to maintain. I am going to use the bike to commute daily and maybe on rides on the weekends. Some advice please . Thanks
