Ok, I'm in - it was either a GXCC or a MTB race - throttle or pedals.

Choice was easy ........

Settlers is miles from the West Rand but luckily the seniors are starting at about 10  :thumleft:

You lot will be speaking heiroglyphics by the time I finish .....   :o

Awesome race! Just a little dusty but with the new format traffic was luckily few and far between. I'll definately have to start riding/exercising between races. My body is hurting like hell today

A great day out as usual  :thumleft:

I had a moerse lot of fun. From what the more experienced riders tell me, this event was a bit easier than previous events, which suited me perfectly. My body is so stiff today I'm battling to type this post... :lol8:

This "racing to get fit" thing isn't that easy, might have to get fitter to race...

When I got there and just saw a flat land with no hills or rivers, I was a bit disappointed.

But once we got racing I really enjoyed it, a lot more than other races  :thumleft:

No rocks! no lurkers! nothing trying to put you in hospital - was excellent!

Fast and flowing but plenty twisties

But, ja, stiff today ............  :o

I see there are quite a few riders marked as 'flagged' on the results. I take it the red ones were flagged during the race and the green ones actually completed but what were they flagged for?

Did you guys stop at the road crossing?

I didn't and only realised after the race, on the way home, that there was one  :o

Didn't get flagged but no-one I saw stopped either.

When I was getting dressed a lot of you early starters were speeding in the pits - we got warned at race briefing - so maybe that's the green flag?

I did see the road crossing but unless marked as a stop they can't really penalise you.

Which class did you ride? I really hope they do start taking the guys on for the pit speeding. Also way too many pedestrains in the pit lane

Oh and the flag statusses only appeared on the results some time last night. It wasn't like that in the initial results

Advice please guys.  I need to get some serious training in for next years Baja and this seems like a great way to get back into the 'racing' scene - warrior class.

Can I do this with my rally bike, giving that's all I have at the moment, and I don't want to strip all kit off as I want to get used to the setup?

The race can easily be done on your bike yes. Whether you uneccessarily want to risk damaging expensive rally equipment is up to you

Given I have only done one event, but I would say it is definitely doable on a rally bike. I could do it on my 990, would just be a lot slower.

Thanks Dwerg, Bud500,

Damaging the equipment is obviously a major concern, but I don't know how to otherwise get used to the set up.  My pace will be slow and cautious.
