What's the deal with the Namibia invitational in Oct?  Where does it take place, format, etc.  I love to do the WCOC events (after suffering through Redelinhuys once) and will do the Tankwa rally.  The races are just a fair distance from Upington, so if the Namibia one is within reach, I would like to do it.

Namibia is Oranjemund Desert 300 - done the last two years and can say there were excellent races, TT day one & race day two, hard pack, whoops, pans and best of all great dunes. Good races, testing & good value for money  - 1st weekend OCT

With my Baja plans having gone up in flames, I decided to console myself with an entry to this ride instead.
Going to be piloting the new WR250F so that'll be something new as I've never raced a 4T before. Looking forward to it

You oaks will see me in the starting line up.  First race of he season ...yay!  Forecasted 27 degrees C which is peachy weather. 
Laps are about 50 kays, so winners standard is 4 laps in 3 hours to make up the 200 kays. 
Race setters are saying bit of riverbed, bit of technical, bit of fast - sounds great! 
Also apparently Hamburger Hill in reverse?  This is the hill that featured in the Caledon National, and also some regionals.  Should be easier downhill, except for that last zig zag right at the bottom.  This would be the wrong place to snatch the front brake ...! 
if you are riding past, then why not pop in for a look?  the turnoff to the farm is 10kays after Caledon, on the N2.  ie go past Caledon due east on the N2;  look for turn off to the right (south).  It should be marked with with day glo orange 150 x 100mm stickers.
Technically minded people can get the GPS co-ordinates off the poster at the beginning of this thread. 
Last minute dot com riders can buy a one-day licence for this race - think you might have to attend to admin today, rather than 10 min before the start tomorrow.

All your chinas (GJ, Kobie etc.) don't ride there 'cos they are fast, they ride there 'cos they want to avoid the dust.

Normal safety gear is important although neck brace is not compulsory.
For pit area you need a ground sheet & 2.5kg fire extinguisher - welcome to join our crowd in pits normally next to Helderberg Yamaha or any of the other dealers always help out (Droomers Yamaha & Eddie 2 Race etc...) - send me a mail  info@westerncapeoffroad.co.za will help you get sorted
only thing to beware of is that you are likely to get hooked on it - enjoy.

Discovery, Bestmed etc no issue, Phone their help desks, they provide it free of charge, and it will not impact on your monthly premiums.

The do however take a couple of days, best not wait to long.
