Over the last two years or so, I have heard more and more Honda owners complain about the astronomical part prices.

That's why I rather paid R900 for my DNA Performance filter.

VFR1200 air filter already touched R1000 a year ago.
Replacement heated grips (both side)  were R4500 a year ago.

Try a Twin Air foam filter instead. My last one including the cage was about R350 from Craigs in Maitland.

Motrix from Startline Air filter R 211.32 (in stock CT)
Motrix from Startline Foam (pre?)filter R 199.00 (no stock in CT)

Sometimes the exchange rate makes a good scapegoat.  I was recently told the reason Bridgestone tires are in stock everywhere is because it is linked to the Yen and not the $.

If you want to haul ass, you gotta mix gas.

+10 ... and it lasts for years! My local Honda Dealer actually got it for me - but you have to change jets - which improves the bike's performance and economy substantially!! Even including the jets it's still way less than R900!!
Uni is actually a better choice ...

You don't replace standard paper filters on off road bikes!!  :deal:

Don't agree at all - one part may be more expensive on a certain brand, but then another part on the same brand is cheaper again ...
Biking - any brand - is expensive!!
AND YOU NEED THE LEAST AMOUNT OF PARTS ON A HONDA !!!  :peepwall: :pot:

Yep, made a huge difference to my XR. Foam Filter, bigger jets, snorkel out, free flow pipe and de-smogged. Went from 15.5 kms/liter to 19.5km/liter and the bike runs much cooler

Okay.   No need to agree,  but Honda parts are bloody expensive.   Sort of across the Board.

A mutual friend put his VFR1200X down at walking speed.  The bike was picked up and ridden to the Honda dealer.  Quote:  R121 000.00!!!

Jip, heard that. No wonder that mutual friend doesn't ride a Honda anymore >:D ;)

Worst is, last time I checked, Honda doesn't keep stock on the popular NC parts and everything is on backorder. So you wait up to 3 months for parts for your commuter. Don't even want to know on not-so-popular bikes....

Pity.  Hondas are good bikes and do not deserve to labour under bad service.

Try StartLine in Edenvale - I get all the AT`s service parts there, decently priced and friendly service.
