Just be thankful your quad doesn't need a cylinder head gasket

Why do things that only happen to stupid people always happen to me?

I often wonder what it would cost to build a bike/car from scratch using only new OEM parts. Could make money by buying new bikes and parting it out for spares.  :pot:

You are looking at something like five times the price. This has to pay for all the people working from the importer to the showroom, keeping fast moving spares on the shelf etc. (and in some places the show room glitz).

I don't think buying new and boning out would be worthwhile as you will likely end up with too much stuff no one wants and too little of the stuff in high demand.

FYI: a 2008ff Kawasaki KLR indicator now costs 907 Rand and 27 cents :o

Very long time ago, I had some stuff made up for bikes.

It cost me R350.
I sold it to a Dealer for R850.
He sold it to Public for R1300.

It was sold out in a week  :o

I bought two brand new OEM rear indicators for a KLE from AliExpress for around R 250 shipped to SA.  I don't even want to know what the "dealers" are charging.

I just found the retail price for the KLR indicator in December 2015: R344.76 Part no 23037-0124 lamp assy. signal RR RH

That's a bit more that what can be explained with the ForEx rate hike ???

The dealer will charge what the market will bear.  That is the "capitalist" way.  In this case, at R1300, he sold out fast.  He could have charged more.

If we had a functioning post office e-bay type might work and bring it down, R99 at Postnet may do it when people get used to it, but the scamsters are killing it ......  :snorting: :snorting: :snorting:
