Recently did a long trip and for the last bout 1000km noticed an 'enigie whine' noise from 80km/h upwards.
There was no buildup to the noise, one day, it was just there
Noise is loudest between 80-100km/h
Did a full oil and filter change - no indication of metal filings - magnetic plugs
Gear shifts are as smooth as ever.
Now here is the screwed up part. Always heard the noise coming from the engine. Reached my destination and took of all my luggage etc.
After clean up and service rode the bike again, and now I could move my head more freely around ( no luggage blocking the way )
Noise still sounds coming from engine but if I drop my head to the rear left of the bike ( opposite exhorst ), it is moerse loud!
What could possibly cause this engine whine?
