Hi
I have stripped my Honda FT500 (same engine as the XR/ XL). The engine was in very good nick, all I needed to do was to replace the head gasket and install a kick starter, requiring the case to be split.
The piston/ cylinder was measured to be well within spec still, but I think the rings have been bent during dis assembly. My first prize was to have the cylinder honed, keep the same piston and just get new rings. BUT Honda don't have rings.
So, I will have to look aftermarket.
I'm just asking for recommendations near jhb for someone who can supply a piston and ring set and rebore my cylinder. I want to keep the bike as close to standard as possible.
Can anyone assist with recommendations please?
