Is it just my horribly slow internet connection, or is the tracking completely FUBAR?

http://gaps.dakar.com/2017/dakar/aso/en is the ASO site, but it is a blank.
http://dakar.visser.it/waypoints.php?stand=S is the Mischa site, but he just uses the ASO data and is also blank.
Dakar.com points at the 2016 info when I try to get info about today's route.

Frustrating!
The riders have a short racing stage today, 39km if my memory is correct, plus a really long liaison, around 450km. They should all be on the liaison already.

So the special is quite early in the day.

Hi Guys

Its that time of year again. :thumleft: :ricky:

Steve - I wouldn't hold out too much hope on the tracking, it normally takes 2-3 days for it to sort itself out, and the 1st day is always a drama class because of the short stage.

He did add a certain "soap opera" appeal to the race........
I think he may have conceded bankruptcy - it must really hurt the wallet to race as an independent every year

Pics from Joey from the last couple of days:

Its all about the detail: Locking the bolts and nuts.

Bivouac mud bath yesterday and they have not even started yet. Its rainy season on the east side of the Andes.... where the rally is going to be

Fellow competitor Walter Terblanche in the foreground, Joey next to his bike.

Now 44th after numbers. That is a really fantastic start. :thumleft:

Joey was 96th through Cp1, and there are 103 riders in the ASS....I hope he is okay because he should have been in by now.

Ahah he is in at 98th, provisionally 98th

 :blob7:

Long way to go still, but what an excellent start. Now for the 450km long liaison.. Exhausting.  :tard:

Hopefully made easier by being lined with throngs of loving fans.

Vinnie is in at 66th up 53 places   :ricky: :ricky: :ricky: :ricky:

David is in 44th, 32 places   :thumleft:

Walter 110th from 136, also a great start.

Well done to all the Africans!  8) 8) 8) 8)

A nice takeaway for stage one. Now I just hope they all take it easy tomorrow.

Here is a bummer:

08:03 Ramirez forced to drop out

Ivan Ramirez was ready to start his very first Dakar at the age of 23 years, but unfortunately is not present on the list of starters in Asuncion. The Mexican, who won the Dakar Challenge and came 14th on the Rally of Morocco, has had to withdraw due to health problems.  :-\ :-\
