That's one helluva tow.

That start looks like a regional club race start  ::) 8)  Guess it is a mere formality but not even any dancing girls?

Botturi

Pedrero

Ricky Brabec

Not the easiest of crossings. Metge's bike wanted to have a little bath. "Dive-Dive-Dive!!!"

He must have be super quick to get going again because he still came fourth for the day, just 18 seconds off.

Which reminds me: No David Casteu this year. :(

Ok this year I am determined not to become obsessed with the Dakar again......

I typed the above about an hour ago, and since been watching all sorts of videos and catching up with latest news etc.....

BUT

I am just going to check in from time to time, maybe once a day at most....

It's still early bells Steve 3am or so

That's funny, I suck at time zone conversions and I start the year off by forgetting completely that Dakar is in another time zone. Too much time in the sun, brain fried

Some photos from the hot Russian lady, they give an idea of the crowds that our boys rode through today.

She posted a strange comment. Excuse the Google translate:
""surprises" from the organizers are continuing :)
So, at the 4 Stage (San Salvador de jujuy - tupisa) Racers expects to climb into the mountains (Athletic Director Mark race coma personally and rather meticulously prepared this soo within three days). If the crew for some reasons, will not be able to overcome it, misses time 5-7 control points and gets about 12 hours in the penalization of!"

Sounds like they allowing a detour to avoid high altitude, with a resultant 12 hour penalty?
