KTM? Top two guys are Toby Price who is pretty much the fastest ever, and Sam Sunderland who is now mature enough to finish..we hope! If he does finish I think he would be on the podium. Toby is no doubt the favorite for first this year. He is unbelievably fast and smooth.

Its a long shot and nowhere near the level of factory support KTM has but I hope these guys do well:

Tupiza - Oruro is a hectic mountainous section. A lot of passes, aretes and riverbeds could be in the mix. Oruoro - La Paz even more so, the scenery there is very, very wild with massive snow capped mountains etc. That stage I bet will have some hill climbs of note like we saw a couple of years ago in Argentina.

La Paz to Uyuni is much flatter and will have dunes and riverbed sections as well, and of course the famous Salar de Uyuni, the biggest slat flat on the planet.

Uyuni to Salta will likely have the Lago colorado (which is a bright blue lake) and volcanoes that the guys will be going past. Should give us some really spectacular footage.

Weather at this time of year is really hectic especially for the first two Bolivian stages, its quite possible that one of these will be cancelled because the birds will unlikely be able to fly.

It will be interesting to see how they managed on the legs back from La Paz, because all of the terrain is above 4200m, which helicopters dont like.

Paraguay seems a bit short changed in this edition? Would have been nice if they had at least one stage finish inside the country e.g. Stage 1 heads north west, finish inside Paraguay, then head south west to Tucuman for stage 2?.

The problem with Paraguay is that its all flat and very tropical. Not sure how much good riding there is there. I think they might have a short special on Stage 1 in Paraguay?

You're probably correct.

Looking at Google earth, the countryside looks pretty much the same, but a lot more agriculture on the Paraguay/Argentina border, which will probably limit the amount of good riding in that area.

It looks like Anastasiya Nifontova has been taking the wrong vitamins.
