Good deal on Dakar?
« on: March 18, 2016, 08:58:51 am »
Hey guys.

Very new to the forum. Looking for my first bike. Noticed this on gumtree and keen.

URGENT SALE: 2006 BMW F650GS DAKAR on Gumtree http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-motorcycles-scooters/plumstead/urgent-sale-2006-bmw-f650gs-dakar/1001599332580910019923809

Just wanting to know anyone's thoughts on this or if anyone has seen this bike.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum

Personally the millage is high for me. You can spend a little more on something with less km`s.

Not that the bike is going to brake on you, but I would prefer less km`s.

Take your time when buying. Read up and test as many bikes as possible.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

The bike is correctly priced for one with that mileage. In fact, quite cheap for a twinspark model.

If you intend on riding it mostly on weekend trips and dayrides it looks like a great deal  :thumleft:

If you intend on using it daily and racking up quick miles, then rather try and stretch the budget with another 5000 or so and you'll find an example with lower mileage.

I had a 2000 model Dakar, enjoyed it for around 14000kms of weekend rides. Sold it at the price I paid on 94000km. It was a superb bike for my needs and I'm sure I'll buy one again some day  :thumleft:
