We are waiting for our update....you are LATE  :laughing4:

Sleeping in, I wish, Woody. We are already working. Mr. Zog left when it was still dark, and I've been working since 6:00 already too.

We've both lost days of work waiting for Dorian. I lost Thursday and Friday last week (Dorian was originally to get to us Saturday and then he stalled; I didn't take any work with deadlines thinking if we lose power/internet I'm stuck with work I can't deliver on time - yes, I have stringent deadlines for my work), and I lost Monday (Labor Day), Tuesday (Dorian), and yesterday (waiting for work to come in again). So I'm out 5 days. Mr. Zog lost the weekend and Monday on call/overtime and Tuesday.

We are going to hurt financially at the end of the month, unfortunately. :(

Yup, Sept 10 is the height of hurricane season.  :o

We will probably get a couple more before the season ends on Nov 30.  :peepwall:

Sorry for not catching up earlier guys.

We survived Dorian just fine. Tuesday was a bit of a blow with some rain. But by Wednesday morning it was mostly over, so I opened up just enough that we had access to all our doors and went off to work. Undid some of the hurricane prep at the shop, grabbed my work van and headed out. Was kept really busy until late evening, got home after dark. Heated up supper in the microwave, had a shower, and basically just collapsed.

This morning I was back out before it even got light. Got home just as it was getting dark.

It starts getting light around 6:15, and gets dark around 8pm. Tomorrow I'll be back at work early, but am hoping to get home at a reasonable hour. I want to prep my little boat and go fishing Saturday morning. I need to get out on the water, I haven't been out for months now, and my head is going crazy.  ::)

Missing out on work sucks. If I am not on the clock, I don't get paid, simple as that. So with having the surgery 2 weeks ago, to missing days because of the hurricane, things will get tight financially. Hopefully by working extra hours this week and next week I can offset some of the losses. That is just how it works.

The garden is a bit untidy with lots of small branches from the trees and lots of leaves that blew off, and the one hibiscus tree we planted blew over, but I saw it early and staked it up again as best I could. Hopefully the stem didn't get too much damage and it will survive. The house and the sheds were fine, I think all the prep I did paid off. And we didn't get hit nearly as hard as expected.

So all in all, we did ok. I took the last of the hurricane shutters down, so now the house is open and light again. I hate a dark house, it must be light and open and fresh... I wonder how some people just leave their shutters up all season, living in the dark, no natural light. Eish, not for me or Mrs Zog…

Dorian is still going, increased to a Cat 3 for a while, I believe back to a Cat 2 now, heading up the East coast and will make landfall again in North Carolina. Charleston and then Charlotte are going to get slammed. They are all very low-lying areas, and the storm surge is gonna hurt them big time.

Today we had very high temps, late 30's, and the humidity pushed the relative temp into the early 40's. Working outdoors in the sun means sweating so much your eyes burn. But people gotta have water. Lots of pumps got submerged in the rain, and when they kicked in they fried. Keeps us busy. Busy is good, busy means I get to catch up on some hours   But I'm looking forward to Saturday  :ricky: :ricky: :ricky:

Fixed.

On the board we currently have the remains of Fernand in Mexico, Dorian, Gabrielle (will stay out to sea), and another tropical wave that will likely develop and become Humberto. Too soon to tell where that will go.

So how does the naming of these hurricanes work? Is it like asteroids... Who ever spots/classifies them first get to name them?
