It's been an eventful day.
I left home at 6am in order to be at my first job up in Scottsmoore (about 70 Miles north) by 7:30. Got that one done, then drove another 70 miles south again to my second job. I did well over 200 miles driving today.
This morning I also received an email with a scan of the last document I needed for my citizenship application. The original will get to me in about 10 days when a friend who has travelled to SA for a week returns. I'll try get the online application in over the weekend...

My friend travelling to SA also hand carried some documents for me that he will PostNet to another guy who will then try to obtain the duplicate registration certificate for the old Honda XL500S standing in my garage. When I get that I will hopefully be able to get it registered and licensed here...

I was at Lowes (same as Home Depot, just blue signs instead of the orange of Home Depot) today picking up a plumbing part that I needed for a job when I saw a guy returning some vinyl plank flooring. We have carpets in our house, mostly, and they just don't handle the Florida heat and especially the humidity very well. Add to that two very active dogs that continually carry in mud and other stinky stuff... so bottom line is that the carpets will have to go. But replacing them with flooring is just way beyond the budget right now.
Anyways, I digress. The flooring that the dude was returning was all open boxes, but still all there and undamaged. Lowes was gonna take it back, but they would have a moerofa hard time selling it again, so they usually just either send it back, or put it in the dumpster... That's where I came in... I took a pic of the colour and sent it to Mrs Zog. She immediately agreed that it was perfect for our place. And it would be just enough for me to cover the lounge and passage (I hope). So I got busy. I asked the guy at Lowes if I could buy the flooring from him at a reduced price. The dude told me that they could not sell it as it was not sealed and therefore could not be warranteed. So I asked him what they were going to do with it. He told me that they would throw it in the dumpster. So I asked him if I promised not to tell anyone

if we could pretend my van was a dumpster?
The dude saw I was serious, but would not make that decision. He called his manager and asked him, and the manager agreed!!!! So I loaded twelve opened boxes of flooring into my van and took them home! Free, mahala, LEKKER!!!
Not so lekker is that now I will have to install the flooring. This weekend I am on standby, but hopefully I can make a start by removing the old carpeting and kickboards. And the small area or tiles at the front door.
Eish, sometimes a score can turn into a really big job for me

I'll post pics of the whole job as I go along.
