I did this route about 3 years ago, well, a similar one but in a bakkie. Lots of nice dirt roads, a drive through the Mapangubwe National park where we came across elephants in the road and many awesome sights.
I had been wanting to do it on a bike since then and one of my bucket list items is to get a photo of me on my bike with at least one Ellie in the background.
I proposed my idea to the Ginger, who was nervous, but keen to go ride. He didn’t care where though, he would just follow. We asked other guys if they wanted to join and John eagerly put his hand up (I think by Day 3 he regretted ever having come with us!).
But on 18 March the three of us met up - all on R1200GSA’s at the home of the Chicken pie in Lanseria. Grey skies indicated some chance of rain, but nothing too serious.
