Places NOT to go to on the Cape
« on: April 10, 2016, 06:36:04 pm »
Stellenbosch - over populated, over priced, over polluted, the grape bushes are just covered in dust and look sad.
Franschoek - do the pass and get the fuk out of the town
Malmesbury - nothing left to look at. It has shopping centers
Ceres - go do the pass and avoid the town
Simonstown - pretty but a bit of a wank
Langebaan - so full you can't get to the sea
Paternoster - my petHATE - don't waste your money and DONT buy undersized crayfish from the drunken locals - you are just exacerbating the problem - it's dangerous and dirty and a rip off. If absolutely necessary go flash your boobs at tittiesbay and the leave.
Paarl - omg what a bore!!!
If you want wine and olives rather go to your local Spar
TILL THE WHEELS COME OFF BABY    TILL THE WHEELS COME OFF (californicTion last season)

It is all about perceptions.....
I can tell you now for a fact that for most of the places on your list, that  I had amazing positive
experiences unlike your negative ones.
Sorry but your generalizations does not carry weight. ;)

Stellenbosch - visit Blaauwklippen market on a Sun and take the time (you probably will have no choice but to on your XR) and ride up to Jonkershoek and eat something at the tea garden after a hike up to the waterfall
Franschoek - have lunch at Solms Delta. While you are there visit the Music Museum and take a ride via the back roads to Paarl.
Malmesbury - Yeah, well in town nothing much. Plenty to see just outside and PLENTY of gravel roads to ride at your own pace
Ceres - Yes, do the pass. Also visit Op die Berg, Eselfontein and some of the other gems in the area Again, PLENTY of gravel to ride.
Simonstown - Live on the wilde side and visit all the little places. Also pop in at world of birds in Hout Bay, visit Cape Point, ride the coastal route to Kommetjie and have some fresh fish and chips. Its a great way to spend a day.
Langebaan - Go when in its not fully booked.
Paternoster - If you do a bit of research you will find a lot to do in and around the area
Paarl - Ride Paarl Rock and while you're out on your bike having fun make your way along back roads to Riebeeck Kasteel.

Life is what you make of it. ;)

I just don't want people to waste their time and money when there are so many other magical places to go to.
If you live in one of hose places then good for you
if you have had stunning experiences in those places then good for you.
But that's my opinion. And both the TO DO and the DONT GO THERE lists will increase as I wind my way around the Far cape.
I am a nature loving wilderness person. Flea markets and restaurants and the such o can do on any weekend.

You should try Luiperdskloof at the back of Harold Porter Botanical Gardens in Bettie's Bay, magical waterfalls

I am thinking there must be a mad donkey disease that results in unhappy cnut syndrome.  :imposer: I also wonder whether a few more cc's under the butt would improve the experience?  ::)
