I lived in Ellisras for a few years in the 1980's that place has plenty of Scorpions, Giant Orb spiders and Chameleons. Was sad to leave the place back then.
The guys say they can do a Pistol on their 3D printer, not impressed I have had a Canon printer for years.

I suspect the proliferation of Hadidas has a lot to do with it. Before the '80s there were no Hadidas in the Western Cape, and since then the chameleon population has declined drastically. Maybe they catch the babies?

Also don't think so, other birds of prey maybe. Also loss of their natural habitat. Hedges replaced with walls.

Wouldn't be their natural prey. They feed on the ground and target earthworms, grubs, crickets etc.

Grey-headed bushshrikes, wood-hoopoes, kingfishers, hornbills, harrier hawks, buzzards, kites would target them. Snakes, monitor lizards, mongooses, civets and genets as well.

Don't forget the devastation to smaller wildlife caused by domestic cats.

And cars!

I used to see loads of them killed crossing roads.
