We literally have 100's of these this year.....

They create the most beautiful webs...

And when you walk into them, you start dancing too  :imaposer:
You suddenly know "Way of the Wind Kung Fu"

Definitely been a bumper seasson, Jurie. Possibly why we've seen a variety of cuckoos and cuckoo-shrikes.

Het ook vir die eerste keer kakelaars wat in my bome kom sit die jaar!

I have noticed that the spiders seem to be out in serious force this year.  Where are you?  Wonder what has caused this super activity?

I am in Broederstroom near Hartbeespoort dam.

The webs are seriously strong. I walked into one on Sunday morning hiking. And then the dance began to find the spider first!
I just get up every morning and go out. And I dont let the old man in, Clint Eastwood

Saw these critters in my veg garden under the table.
Daddy long legs all of them. Lots of spiders this year.
1at pic - individual
2nd pic - lots otgether. Interesting thing - when you get too close to them they start bouncing like being on a trampoline. Difficult to focus the camera on them.

Very cute. By the looks of all those seeds it was under a syringa tree.

Found this in my house earlier. My son wants to keep it as a pet.

Does anyone know anybody that has died from a scorpion sting.

Yes and fortunately the tree was removed a few months ago.

(My) General rule on those are, they kill with the biggest end.

ie - small pinchers vs large, thick tail - they kill with the stinger and should be avoided.
Large pinchers vs thin tail - kills with the pinchers. Still hurts like a MF, when yo do get stinged, though.

Hi Rooies,

I am in Wingate Park, Pretoria. Just a normal residential suburb, although reasonably close to the Rietvlei dam and Nature Reserve
