Hi Joey !

Thanks for all the awesome support and encouraging words guys, really appreciate it!  :thumleft: :thumleft:

To keep you updated there is an article in enduro world magazine this month that's just come out on my Dakar dreams as well as a separate one where Darryl Curtis did a bike test on my new Rally bike the KTM 450 RR 2016. The mag is only available on line now (a good move in my opinion) so check it out.
Also 2wheels tv was there and did some coverage of the bike test and a quick interview with me that was scary but cool, so keep an eye out for that. I think it airs next week but not 100% sure.
I see they don't mention it the magazine but during the bike test they asked Darryl to jump the bike for some airborne shots, there wasn't alot of space but he did a couple times. The last one though he managed to nearly land on the cameraman and got hard on the brakes and went down. I think the shot will be on 2Wheels though as I saw it in the preview. Fortunately the sand was fairly soft so the bike is fine (naturally my biggest concern ;)).............. oh ya, Darryl and Dave the camera man are fine too.

Joey. Wow man - just wow.

Until today I had no idea your challenge was so huge. I just thought you are another one of the tougher hardmen after you tyre story last year.

I am fully behind you on your quest to do the Dakar, and would love to help you in one way or another.

But first things first: The Merzouga - All the best buddy. Have a blast - you deserve it.

When it gets tough, know we will be watching your tracking every inch of the way. :deal:

Thanks for the support again guys, really gets me amped up when I read the positive feedback!
Thanks to Bluebull for the sticky :thumleft:

I did about 420km on the rally bike on Friday around Harties and magaliesberg area and then another 120km on Saterday at Maraisburg. I'm feeling a lot more confident on the rally bike now. Originally it just felt big and awkward but now a good few hundred Kay's later I feel like we've made friends and it really is a machine. I made sure I got stuck in the mine dumps a few times just to make sure I can handle the weight getting it turned around and picking it up and stuff. Probably the most difficult thing right now is that I have never ridden proper desert dunes so I really don't know what to expect in Morocco. My logic is to just take it smooth and watch the other okes at first. I really don't care about positions at all, this is just a step towards Dakar that I need to get through uninjured. Must finish, must finish, must finish.

Thanks zetman, that place looks perfect, I leave in about 10days so out of time now. I hope to get in some proper training at places like that and Namibia between Merzouga and Dakar though. I'll keep Waterberg 4x4 for then. Thanks bud :thumleft:

Massive thanks to Franziska and Riaan from KTM South Africa for the sponsored kit for Merzouga. Best stuff I've ever owned. Franziska asked me if Alpinestar KTM Tech 10's would be OK?  Hells to the yeah!
Really cool of them to believe in my dream and back me up with some really cool stuff.

Thanks Geel Kat. I really hope it has a happy ending!

The KTM kit is really awesome but I still needed some more stuff. So yesterday I went down to my local KTM dealer Raceworx KTM and asked them if they would be keen to sponsor me a couple of shirts. They came to the party with 4 races shirts a kit bag and some casual stuff. Really good of them.

I am glad that KTM came to the "party" and that they sponsored you with some stuff. It is good advertising for them.

Dude, honestly, you are an inspiration. Now my kak stories about bull shit excuses when it comes to fulfilling life goals/ambitions seem trivial/poor.  :-[

Well done bud, simply an amazing story. I wish you all the best with Merzouga and see you at the Amageza.

Today was awesome. I sat in front of my computer at work going through stuff I still needed. I have a few pairs of goggles but all a bit scratched up and stuff. Two new pairs would be great for the rally. But this thing has run way over budget already! I though let me see if perhaps Mark Henderson from Henderson Racing Products would be keen to sponsor me a couple sets. Not being a top rider I feel kind of awkward asking for sponsors, but in line with the whole vibe of this dream I thought "stuff it, fortune favors the brave, let's do this!"  Well I sent him a message with a link to the Facebook page and he was dead keen. I went round to his warehouse and he walked me through all the products they do. Man, that was a lot of cool stuff. Then he was like so what all do you need. I ended up walking out of there with 3 sets of X-brand goggles with spare lenses and a small mountain of EVs kit and some factory Cycra hand guards. Really appreciate his generosity and belief in my dream. He had actually heard about me from Errol Dalton years ago when I broke my back at the race in Heidelberg. On a side note Errol was awesome back then, he came through to the hospital in Pretoria to visit me with some friends and encouraged me with my recovery.
