Author Topic: Swartland 400 National Off Road - Marshalls Wanted (Read 1764 times)

The Swartland 400 takes place on2 August 08. The organisers are looking for roving marshalls (about 50 marshalls wanted). This is an ideal opportunity to ride in some awesome areas as well as get a chance to watch the top national enduro riders doing their thing. Even if you do not feel like marshalling I strongly urge you all to come and watch what will be an awesome race. The event is being held on the Swarberg Vlei farm just past Yserfontein.

I believe that they will also open up sections of the actual route for adventure bikes on the Sunday after the race. For those that want to check out their sand riding skills this will be an awesome ride. There wil be food stalls, as well as fully stocked bar

. If any of you have never been to a National race this is a must do event.

I'm doing WFO next weekend, SCMSC Harescramble or Mini Roof next month.
525 is good for the offroads, hook 5th and hang on the cable.

I just hope and pray there is a next year because I would love to watch those enduro race

We really need the roving marshalls, need some quads too and 4x4's
This is a great weekend for the family/girlfriend/skelm
We are really trying to make this a bling event

The Dakar will be fine. There will however be a couple of sandy sections

if not the Pajero will also be really useful at the event.

Would not be bragging about the trip if not on a bike.
Still getting info from Bariloche Moto Tours and Motocare as to what they can do for us but so far It seems good to go.

Sounds interesting but what exactly is involved? I don't want to say I'm coming and then fall my arse off in bottomless sand pits and be the fool of the day

Must also accomodate Mrs LeCap (sure I can talk her into coming too). Also not really a deep sand fan due to limited earthmoving performance of the Djebel 200 (I decide as I don't líke replacing clutches

)

Ja, i guess i could help. As Le capo says, what exactly is involved. Working Times, 3 digit wage, etc.

You mentioned 4x4, where do you want to use this?

Otherwise, if theres place to camp, ill come up with a possy of Dawgs and sleep over Sat night. A little Pre end of year WD bash run.

Did you guys see the Kei National Enduro. Man, that brings back memories. Theres nothing like Eastern Cape enduros.

Marshalling an offroad race is not going to be hard.

All you need to do is assit at certian points, bottlenecks etc.
Make sure the race flows, notify the medics in case of accidents , look out for cheaters , etc.

Its good to sit at a tough section (ok no real tough bits in an offroad) and watch the guys sukkel.
