Labour times.

Could anyone tell me the amount in hours of labourtime taken to check valve clearances on the 690's?

You mean someone who owns a 690 will actually check their own valves clearances? I thought they just applied more decals and stickers and left the serious stuff to someone else. Also, a KTM dealer in Camperdown told me I would never, ever have to worry about the valves on a KTM!
The dog that caught the car. What now?

If an engine has valves, you will worry! :thumleft:

I just wanted a rough time estimate to work something out. Never done this on a 690.

Should be a maximum of 1h. It usually can be done within 30 min. I do not know what KTM specs for the mechanics labour time though.

Remove seat
Remove shrouds
Remove air box (remember the temperature sensor)
Remove valve cover
Line motor up for TDC
Check valves and note it down
Reassemble.

ThanksWitblitz!

My assessment of the situation brought me to a slow and relaxed working time of about 1.5 hours. Like I said, I have not done it before myself though.

Taking everything off and measuring the valves = 2 beers
assembly afterwards = 2 beers
