Hierdie een gaan ons geniet. Tik assebleif vinnig.
Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to rank amongst those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.

But all  was not fun and games..
When covering a few hundred thousand kilometres on remote roads, chains, tyres, fuel shortages and Springbok makes it interesting...
All to follow in the complete write-up.

Preparations:

Our planning started a few months before departure and ended up to be fairly simple:

I will bring the medical stuff (Based on Mr. Zog’s handbook),
0012 will bring his tools,
and the other guy will be the camera man.
Each brings his own snacks, clothes and bike.

We chose the route to take us through the Flower region of Namakwaland with stops along the way at stuff we thought will be cool.
All accommodation booked before we left. No camping because we are not hardcore and it is winter.

As the time got closer 0012 were sending me photos of his serviced bike, the tools he is taking with, and his special “Bike Trip Prep Room” – a room dedicated to preparing for the trip!

At the time I just thought his house had too many rooms..

I serviced my bike, changed to a quieter exhaust, built and fitted a DIY-madstad bracket, and had the front tyre replaced by Gravelman.

Have I fitted a new back tyre, and a new chain, my life would have been a lot easier. (“only” 24935km on chain @ departure)

The day finally came.
We are ready, and our bikes are packed and ready.

So after work on Friday, 0012 and the other guy left from Ellisras, and I left from Witbank to meet up in Pretoria.

Tonight we sleep at the other guy's parents and tomorrow we ride to the Northern-Cape.

It going to be a big day, and we are psyched!
