LIEWE OUERS V-TORR     :3some:    :3some:     :3some:

Ek het nie eens geweet jy tik ons ritverslag nie  :ricky:

Ek het ook nie geweet jy kan ingels praat nie!      ;)    :lol8:

Daai oggend toe ons stop by die garage in potch se V-Torr vir ons:
"dis nou so koud as ons stap klink dit of ons snoeker speel"          :imaposer:

Ek het die aand in Orania ook vreeslik geniet, die heerlikste potjie en toe daarna het ons "boeke gevat" en n paar liedjies gesing en dit was vir my baie spesiaal en my aan my kinderjare laat dink.

nou ja toe, ons wag in spanning vir die volgende "installment", mis ek nou my transalpie!

Day 2: Orania to Frazerburg (447km)
Despite best intensions to get an early start, the sun bakes us awake on Sunday morning. The cabin we slept in is built right on the Orange River and the view is magnificent. There is some frost on the bikes but the sun is bright and it disappears quickly.

While the other two pack up, I return the cabin keys to “Tannie Dorie”. She is a lady of 80+ years old, very sharp, and already impeccably dressed for church. It makes me feel sleazy returning the keys in my oil-stained bike jacket.
We quickly load up, and drive to town.

Orania is dead quiet. Church has started and we are the only vehicles on the street.
We drive slowly not to disturb and take a few photos from the “Monument koppie”. It is a good vantage point of the town and the surrounding fields, and we can hear singing from the nearby church.

Done with Orania, we drive towards Kraankuil station. It seems like we are the only people on the planet, so we park ON the road to repack our gear, make adjustments to the screens, and test the bikes at speed.
Of course the testing turns into a drag-race between me and Theotherguy.

Now for those of you who didn't, he drives a 1200 and I a mere 650, which puts me at a slight disadvantage..

So I cheated: Unloaded my boxes and even emptied my bladder to lose all possible weight. Reduced drag by putting my screen on the lowest position, and made sure to choose the distance at only 800m, short enough to reach my top speed, but not long enough for him to reach his.

With a slight fumble on his take-off, and some luck on my part I manage to beat him twice.  ;D
I don’t want to go for a third time because he is gaining on me with every run, and I suspect that despite being heavily loaded I will lose by a massive margin when Theotherguy figures out his launches.

At Kraankuil the very nice tar road changes into a very nice dirt road.
We stop at the next windmill just for in case it is THE windmill “shot” Theotherguy need.

It wasn’t.

It is eventually 13:30 when we roll into Britstown.
Another typical Karoo-town on a Sunday afternoon:  Quiet, dusty and friendly. It takes getting-used-to to speak Afrikaans to everyone.
Even the guy at the petrol pump struggles to answer you in English after which, to our delight, we switch over to Afrikaans.

The conversation would go something like:
0012: “Hi, we are looking for a place to eat”
Pump attendant:  “uhm,yes, it is.”
V-torr: “0012, wat se die ou nou?
Pump attendant: “Julle ka da by die Hotel ga eet, is net terug soos julle gekom het aan daaai-kant vannipad.”

So just like that we stumble onto a delicious Sunday lunch, cold beer and a wonderful place to relax.
