Witnek Pass

Each Thursday we showcase a mountain pass somewhere in South Africa. Today we head off towards the Central Karoo and specifically to the fascinating village of Nieu Bethesda, but we give the tar road approach a miss in favour of the more interesting northern routing via the Witnek Pass. We froze our butts off near the top, where the temperature dropped to around 4C, making videography something of a challenge. By a series of lucky breaks in a strong frontal system, we managed to get the whole pass filmed. We also produced a short video on the village and its interesting history.
