Hi, any DR500 owners out there? I just bought a 1983 model DR 500 S

I have a friend's one here, yellow in colour too, 100% complete, except for the fenders.

Needs a bit of TLC to the paint on the frame, engine and hubs, as well as new spokes, of which I have not found a cost effective solution.

My friend bought it brand new with his army pay.

I'll take a pic once it's out of it's corner!

Dit was die aanvanklike idee gewees. Maar ek voel ek moet hom mechanically net goed sort en hom as n spaar bike ry of as n vriend op n Saturdag saam wil ry. Die een is nog op die pad en gelisensieer tot Maart 2017. Dis nogals iets wat jy nie aldag sien nie. Ook oorspronklik behalwe vir Air Age performance exhaust en fenders. Waar sal ek so n side cover kan kry. Die linker een is weg. Die bike het maar 13000km op die klok.

Is bly jy gaan hom oorspronklik hou en ja dit was 'n goeie "vind" gewees.

Parte is maar skaars maar ek sal begin by plekke soos, Bike Hospital, Perry's, dis ou Botha's ( al die voorraad is uit gekoop en is nou by 'n ou in Mitchel str Pta maar hulle is maar traag en kan nie nou die naam onthou nie, hulle sit aan die regterkant naby Ruto Mills).

As jy bel vra ook maar die mense of hulle verwysings het vir jou.

Ek het al beide die 500s en die 400s besit. Die DR500s is seker een van die beste "thumpers" van sy era en as hy 100% reg gestel is, sal die Hondas en Yamahas nie saam hardloop nie. Beste ding wat jy kan doen is om die "Jam Blik" in die exhaust te verwyder.

Die 400s het ek op 'n polisie veiling gekoop en dit was redelike harde werk om hom weer op die been te bring.

Nice 500's , I have 4 of them in various stages, one is original to blinged up show room, another to be my 4 smoke vmx racer, the 3rd one to be a café racer, and the last one to be put together with all the bits and going on the market too many bikes. once the mancave is done can start building again. easier at home than at work...
