Dont shoot! I got a Harley!
« on: July 12, 2016, 03:20:01 pm »
Hey guys, thought I would share.

Seeing as I am constantly putting my adventure bike out of action plus get very frustrated when it is dirty and I have a trailer, I thought it would be awesome to treat myself.
This bike was in the family, had 80k km on before the engine had to be redone recently and it sounds awesome plus was going for a bargain, so I just had to get it. Or at least thats how I have been lining the excuses up for my wife lately!

The pispot helmet doesnt work so lekker though, there is nothing to hide my poepol smile wherever I arrive.

And yes yes yes, I know the tossles are there to see if it moves, I know I will be getting bugs on the back of my helmet and I know its a stupid way of changing fuel into noise without any other benefits...

Yap. It sounds something like what I would have thought a V8 Cortina would sound like. I could choose louder pipes but those does fine.

I also got 21.5kmpl at 130kmph. A lot better than any other 1200 adv bike which was a nice surprise, the 300km drive home on that seat was also awesome.

Now I just need to forget what a suspension does or proper brakes...it doesnt have much

I heard they retract at 80kmph. Will have to get my speedo fixed, something is wrong there

As long as you are happy. Some guys even ride Yamaha's.
Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to rank amongst those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.

My mother and stepfather did a tour (think 4000km) and at the end near home the oil light came on, he drove the last 10km slow as it was dark. Turns out the oil pump was done for. it had 80k km on then, 2005 model. He got a 2013 engine then from a totalled sporster and fitted the internals of that to the old bike. stood for a year then as he was over the whole Harley crowd where it was all about the bling and nothing about the ride. And now I got it

I will just double check with him if I have the story straight on the oil pump.

haha stepfather actually rides an S10. He drove it to his last HD club meeting and wasnt recieved to kindly!

Jeeez, and I thought I had a warped sense of humour  ;)   Those Harley guys don't like people showing up with more reliable bikes, or people overtaking them on their go-slow fashion parades that they call "out rides".
