Does anybody have more info on this event?

The website http://www.dirt-zone.co.za/index.htm doesn't say much.

We did it last year. Total price includes staying at the Tiger Lodge in Jozini. The route last year was 450 odd km but this was slightly shortened due an issue with permission on the border run. We did 430 km of which 80% was riverbed or single spoor soft sand the rest was dirt road and small bit of tar. Beautiful ride. lots of fun if you don't mind sand. Topped of by a good braai. Not a race more a timed event.

There's a race of men that don't fit in, A race that can't stay still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, And they roam the world at will.
They range the field and they rove the flood, And they climb the mountain's crest; Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood, And they don't know how to rest.                                                   Robert Service

Are roadworthy bikes mandatory?

I think so as part of the roads are tared to get to some sections. Phone Dalie and ask him for this year.

It's an awesome event. You can go on any bike. There are different routes for how tough you want it or what bike you're on. You won't find better training for Amageza if you do the hardest route. The hotel is fancy with great food and a good one to bring the wife and even the family to.
Dallie is a experienced rider and sets great tracks. Really well worth it. Just watch out for cows!  ;)

Tried to open that link, but the firewall onboard blocks it.
If you guys dont mind just post the date of the race and maybe when the entries close. Considering the race for Amageza training.
Thanks

so how was it ?
My first attempt was dismal, with clutch o rings on reservoir going early on, followed by a proper wipeout,
where no respectable dirt rider should have ever come short, even whilst looking over his shoulder at the time..
2nd time was a bit better, I hadn't a gps yet, and luckily for me a sympathetic, patient group to follow... we short-cutted the last 20km..
would love some feedback, unless I've missed it somewhere.. (640adv)

So I plotted the roadbook with every intention of using the roadbook for the Pongola 500
I loaded the 1st 100km all my F2R could hold, and put the rest of the roll of taped together A5 papers in my backpack to load later
The roadbook was very busy and was plenty of fun and rather accurate ....
Until we hit the soft sand after fuel stop 1....
The route took us through bushes tightly packed with thorns on either side of the twisty sand tracks, Non-stop left and right turns
If you stood up a branch hit you if you kept left a branch hit you, if you kept right, a branch hit you, eventually if you got into the swing of it, you stayed in the outside track through the turns jumping from left to right all the time, and tried to miss the bushes
There was no time to load the next 100km's of roadbook, let alone time to read it and ride
It was tough enough following the garmin track,,,,
The routes especially through the forests and around Sibiya Lake were amazing
Well done to Dally and Maryanne for putting together a fun Dirt Zone Pongola 500
