Honda CRF 1000 soft luggage rack
« on: July 25, 2016, 11:34:52 am »
So...having spent all my dosh on a new AT, I had to go the Pooratech route and make my soft luggage rack.

For me, the biggest issue was finding suitable mounting points, and I eventually decided to use the bolts under the seat.  The following pictures show my result.  And yes....I know my welding is not perfect!

Hopefully this gives a starting point for other ideas...

It just connects the one side to the other.  I did not bolt it to the frame anywhere - because both sides would be weighted, they would push towards each other.  There is a little flex at the back, but has not been an issue.  If you wanted to use the system for hard panniers (that dont counterweight each other), you would need to bolt that back stay onto the frame somewhere.

Looks very lekker, well done!

Just make sure that your cross bar is clear of the rear wheel at full compression, if your tyre catches it when landing a jump it could be bad !
Always keep your "kant" clean !
