Please forgive my ignorance what are the ICO for
When I bought my bike It had one as well as a roadbook
you used two and what is the difference between them
and why use two?

ICO is the brand name - just like KTM, BMW, Yamaha, etc

Trip meter accurately records distance so that you know exactly how far you have travelled and therefore know where you are in the roadbook - you are also able to adjust your trip meter up or down via handlebar mounted buttons to calibrate it to the markings on the roadbook. This trip meter also shows current speed and time.

Cap repeater has all the above functions and a built in GPS to show your cap heading in degrees i.e. 60 degrees - your roadbook will have a cap heading at every turn so this is the way to make sure you are on the right track and heading. See bottom right corner of the tulip in the pic below.

It is very nice to have your trip distance and cap heading on 2 separate large displays right next to each other - makes the navigation so much easier and simple instead of trying to scroll through the menu to find the cap heading or find the heading on the tiny display on the eTrex GPS - especially while moving

The cap repeater is also the back up for the trip meter - in case it fails or you break it in a crash - it is there for redundancy - some riders have 3 units on their bikes for this reason

Most guys I know run two ICO's in case one goes down. I used to run a spare ICO cable as well ready for a quick install as they like to fail if they get bent. Subsequently I added some steel to protect the cable bend from bushes etc. where it is mounted at the wheel.

Redundancy is important.
Rally nut. What could possibly go wrong?
