This got the gears spinning overtime last night. I read quite a few forums.  It seems amazing that the darksiders are completely converted, not one regret or concern. It makes me think of all the old Harley 45's I have seen with square tires. I always wondered about that.

I see the guys mention pressures quite a bit in the 30psi/2bar range.  Are you going to keep it at 2.5bar range. I would like your feedback if you drop it for testing.

Well done!

My only concern about the Hankook tyre is that it has a very soft sidewall.
When it is not inflated you can push it down very easily.
If I do happen to loose tyre pressure this thing will have absolutely no stiffness to give you time to coast to a stop.
It will go down and you will be on the rim in a second.

Currently I am at 2.8 bar and it feels good.

Will check the max pressure that this tyre can handle and up it a bit more to check...but I do not think going down from 2.8 is a good idea.

I can also get a FEDERAL SS-657 or a Nanakang CX-668 in this size 165 x 80 x R15.  Maybe they have a stiffer sidewall.
Maybe there is a DoG out there in the tyre industry that can confirm which is the STRONGER tyre.

Time will tell.

I would say be careful with too high pressure as well. I know with knoblies one need to go very high to prevent them from overheating on the tar and we all know a car or truck tyre overheat when pressure is too low and burst but i also know once the tar heat up the pressure increase except when one fill it at the stations which offer the gas. Not sure but think it is nirtogen. There are definite dangers in running too high pressure on a car tyre that I know. On the sidewall there should be indications wrt tyre pressure perimiters. If it is a steel belt tyre the changes of a flat I think should be minimum and that spookpis works very well in car tubeless tyers which the car places can just pump into the tyres. I can actually recall that when we were young and windgat we made the rear tyres of the ambulances very hard as it would slide out easily espesially respinding through town trying to impress the friends and lady friends....yes I know 😅😃 and on a few occation did we get blisters because of too high pressure on the sidewall and ofcourse the fire chief was no idiot 😆

..but I do not think going down from 2.8 is a good idea.

Why?
On a car the pressure rating would probably be between 2-2.4 bar while it would be carrying a load of say 300-350kg.
On the bike you are likely closer to 150kg

But remember the car stay FLAT.

When you corner on the bike I ride on the EDGE..... do not want the EDGE to fold in on me in a corner.

Well that is my thinking.

Today I fixed the axle that broke.
Took a 25mm solid bar and drilled a 10mm hole through it.
Inserted into the original axle tube.
Also re-inforced the connection between the swingarm and the unit that takes the wheel hub.

It will never break there again.... hopefully.

Then it was onto the adjustable suspension.

Now to have a 8mm steel arm lasercut to fit between the electrical jack and the shock.

Sorry for the quality of the last picture, but it was late and I must have been shaking...DRINKING time... :imaposer:

Still a story to be told about the BALANCING.

Because the rim has a 185 mm diameter center hole all of the tyre places told me that they cannot balance it on the machines as they do not have a big cone to fix it to the machine.

So I was looking for a place that still had one of those old High Speed balancing machines that can do it on the car /  bike in this instance.

After many phone calls I eventually found a place in Boksburg.  Tyres and More it is called. Gerrard a super nice chap said that he cannot guarantee that we can get it right on the bike but I can come around and we can try.

So when I got there the other day, Gerard was busy but directed me to the open bay.
So the people there started shouting for Jonas to come from the back and balance this bike / car tyre.

But Jonas started shouting back.. IT CANNOT BE DONE, I WILL NOT DO IT......big shouting match between the 2 parties.

I knew that if I cannot get this done I might have to ride the unbalanced wheel.... but that I did not want to do.

So eventually Jonas came from the back after checking this this mad middle aged man is not going anywhere.

Still complaining that THIS HAS NEVER BEING DONE.

I realized that Jonas must be approached differently.  So I tell Jonas that we will not know if we do not try.
I also tells him that HE as Mr Jonas will make history today here in Boksburg if we get it right.

So Jonas looks at this bike, looks at his machine and eventually gave in.

So we put the SENSOR tripod under the axle point after jacking the bike up with a trolley jack.
Jonas takes his place on the spinner and here we go.

One weight on the left side.  Spin it again and a smaller weight on the right hand side.

When he did the first spin I had my hand on the seat to stabilize the bike. I could feel the bad vibration of an unbalanced wheel.
After the second weight was added I checked his meter and it indicated ZERO.....that was not even needed as I could feel the vibrations were gone by holding my hand on the seat.

Very happy I went into the office to go and pay.  Gerard was happy that we could get it sorted and did not want any payment.

I walked back to Jonas and pushed a R 50.00 note in his hand.....That made his day. :laughing4:
