EVO2 Rally Raid Tanks for 690
« on: August 12, 2016, 11:27:22 am »
With the Rand being quite favorable to the GBP at the moment I was thinking of pulling the trigger on a set of EVO2 rally raid tanks with the shroud and graphics kits.

Is this setup worth the +-R20K it will cost to get it into my hands?

Current rides: 2015 WR250F / 2016 690R / 2017 701SM

I've had them since 2012.  Not sure.  It is cheap(ish).  What is your requirement/expectation?

If I had to kit a 690 again, it would be Safari tank or Rade Garage based.

They are also starting to look old school nowadays.  Just check what Omega Fibre in South Africa has done with the 701 Husky.

Imagine crashing that repeatedly on Amageza.

Ya! Nasty. I don't think Thomas drops it very often though...

The Safari tank is ugly as pigshit, but very robust. I had a Safari tank on my X-Challenge and it really took the knocks. The one on my brother's 690 has been 100%. I'd probably go with that and a HDB fairing if I wanted wind protection, but then I do like my bike's looking pretty, and Safari Aus really took this one through a bush backwards. It's a shame - RR's setup is so much better looking.

Huh?? Really? That's pretty cool. Hope they have less vulnerable corners than the RR

Are there any pictures of the Omega Fibre 701 kit? Their website leaves a lot to be desired.
By far the best kit for a KTM 690 Enduro is the Kit690 kit http://kit690.com/

The safari tank might be ugly, but it is not as if a koggelmander in the Kalahari is going to run to and say that your bike looks kak.

See with the kit690 you can get the 18L rear tank too.

Omega's kit. Benefit is that you do not need to reroute the exhaust.

Those Huskies do look the business but I would have thought that for the extra R 85,000 they would have included a nice exhaust too.  It is not some small change that they are asking for.
