KTM 690R Gear Shifter Adjustment
« on: August 13, 2016, 07:00:41 pm »
Hi, I bought a very nice 690 on the WD forum. The only issue is I find I have to move my foot around too much to change gears. It's like the gear shift is either set too high or is too far away. My boot is a size 12 yet I have to move my foot forward to change using the top of my boot.  Is there an adjustment for different size riders? There's nothing wrong with the gears, it just seems like it's a gear shifter or short foot peg problem. Any ideas would be appreciated.

My guess is that your shift lever is adjusted too high.  I have the same bike and the same size boot and have no issue at all.  On my son's bike the gear lever is set a little higher and I end up shifting with the top of my foot (and have too move my boot forward).  Suggest you just lower it one tooth and will probably be okay.

Ok thanks, I thought that might be possible. Seems I can remove the retaining bolt and move the shifter on the spline. Great, thanks a lot.

Sommer put a longer bolt in while you are their.  Less chance of it falling out.  Loctite...

I moved the gear lever down one spline and it is way better.  i thought about that bolt and will put some locktite after i am sure i don't need to go down another spline.

Thank  you for the advice
