Advice needed re - KTM 200 XCW
« on: August 22, 2016, 05:07:10 pm »
Guys, I'm in the market for a KTM200/250/300 XCW but probably more towards the 200.. do not want to race but use it as a weekend bike and to help uplift the fitness(or lack thereof) levels.. I sold my 300 last year after October and been wanting an off-road ever since..Want something from 2012 or newer... Went looking at a few and the one that were maintained the best according to my observation have the following that bothers me:

- The bike is neat and clean and paperwork for the maintenance done is available with top-end about 20hrs ago, also clutch done, changed to steel from alu?? Braces/fan/mooses everything, get up and ride kind-of bike..
- According to the seller he bought the bike as a 200 xcw six days (my question - were there 200 in six days trim?) but the previous owner installed a brand new 2014 motor in this 2013 SIX DAYS EXC 125 frame.. I do not understand that?
- Frame nr says 125 EXC..
- No NATIS documentation
- This is going to bite me when I want to sell again in future nÍ??
- What if I want to take it across the border to go do KoŽs Rally or something, I'm going to get k@k at the border probably??
- Who can I phone and give engine and frame nr's to check??

Real advice would be appreciated...if I have to think with my hart this bike would've been in my garage allready, but my head says otherwise..

Cannot think that at a place like the Nam border or any other border that will cause to much problems. But somehow this setup does not sound quite good with changed engines etc. I personally have a very differrent view when it comes to 2nd hand 2smoke plastics. To me not even 10 hours which i was not part of is an issue. Does not take a genius to di serious damaga to a motor in 10 hours. Thefore i tend to look for something that has all the rest in good shape. Spokes, hubs, radiators frame swing arm etc All really expensive stuff and then work towards a price where i an comfortable to pay say another 10 grand toward a complete engine rebuilt. Then i know that the hours basically starts as zero and i will be the one doing the hours
When u are on tar u are lost  !

I am a die hard 2 honey fan (my last 3 plastic bikes)...couple of things

Never seen a 2 honey in Six day trim...google is also very light on that front.

Secondly, the 200 and 125 share many parts, such as cranckcase, frame, wheels etc. So an engine swap between the two is quite feasible. Unless you are getting an absolute deal on this bike, move on it smells k@k

And then, do the words Rally and 200cc go together? ....

Weskus, ek ken daai bike, glo nie jy gaan daar verkeerd gaan nie. Ek ken die eienaar goed en het 'n paar keer met hulle gery, hulle pas hulle bikes mooi op  :thumleft:

Far as I know, eNatis should also not be a problem if you taking the bike across the border on a trailer, it's seen as a recreational vehicle. Different if you ride it across though  ;D

Too many question marks.

Walk away.

There is a 200XCW with extras on Moto101 at the moment for R45k. If memory serves it is a 2012. Photos showed it to be in very good condition.

You cannot change what is, But you can change your perception of what is, And if you change your perception of what is, Then you actually change what is.

Ou Chris, daai wat hul sÍ KTM onderhou duurder is sommer k@k man..
