We had a proposed venue in mind in Thabazimbi which would have provided good access to the Waterberg routes.
How-ever - It is very dry there and the Lodge wanted us to book out the entire venue.
It would have worked out too expensive and we abandoned the idea.
After serious deliberation we decided to rather investigate Ruby River Resort at Loskopdam in Limpopo.
It is 50 kilometres from Middelburg in Mpumalanga and within 200 k's or so from either Jhb or Pretoria and a proper halfway brunch stop for us when we ride to Loskopdam and surrounds. Good striking distance for most so that you don't need to take leave for the Friday.
As a matter of fact if you leave work after 4 you can still reach the venue before 6.
It is easily accessible for Gautengers, Limpopians and Mpumalangans :thumleft:
The resort is accessible by tar via the N4 Middelburg or via well maintained dirt routes through Bronkhortspruit and the Wilge river which are pillion friendly and have been tested extensively on previous trips. Note that the N11 between Middelburg and Groblersdal before the dam is currently under construction and there are various stop and go's which may be a pain in the ass.
The resort is situated on the Olifantsriver flowing from the Loskopdam. It is green and scenic.
The resort has plenty of accommodation of various grades and also offers a well maintained campsite with clean ablutions.
Hondsekierie and myself went through to arrange with management.
The weekend of 21/22/23 October has been reserved for the very first Wilddog North Bash at Ruby River Resort Loskopdam. :3some:
