Remy's F800 fails
« on: August 25, 2016, 03:15:22 pm »
So on Tuesday my 800 decided to leave me next to the road on the N1 after the Milnerton offramp.... electrical issues. :patch:

BMW on call didnt work as the bike is out of warranty since April.  :sip: Reluctantly I had to phone Reinier who I knew would be taking photos of my bike on his bakkie  :bueller: and karma hitting me hard as his Truimph is more in the workshop than on the road. :ricky:

In the 60-180min standing next to the road probably thousands of people passed as it was 17h peak traffic from all those only 4 people actually asked if I was ok  ??? even though this was disappointing one can understand that its southafrica and culture thing I guess. :thumleft:

Luckly Donald met us at his shop and is rectifying some german engeneering issues :3some:

Now i had time to think sitting there with my hazards on. We that like to play around ,rides solo and go to middle of nowhere places. Potentially have a big risk as if these electrical issues should pop up we have some miles to walk :xxbah:

Just check, the bike has a two year warranty, but On-Call was for three years.  Or, it used to be.

So Renier took photos of your bike on the bakkie, that is bad. A friend of mine once had to tow my Mercedes with his Kombi and took me for sightseeing all round Pretoria North and nothing I could do about it, an old Kombi towing a nice broken down Mercedes through the streets. Sometimes I wonder about our friends.

That's correct.  I also have it as 3 years on the on-call.

yup the electrics of newer bikes, although very good overall, sometimes let us down.

That being said, the CDI of a 20year old bike can also give up the ghost and we'd be just as screwed  :lol8:

Little electrical componant that broke. Could have happening anywhere anytime I hear afterwards.

My 2001 DR650 never had anything on call and after doing 145,000km still hasn't broken down once.

How can I join the break down club ??? :laughing5:
