Just a heads up that you guys might want to replace your subframe mounts on the 701 with aftermarket units like most guys do on the 690. We had an incident at the Tankwa Rally this weekend where a competitor broke the standard subframe mounts on his 701 during the event.
Present bikes: BETA 300RR, KTM 690, Yamaha WR250F

1st I've heard of this (701, anyway); we have stocked the 690 replacement tank bolts for some years now, do you not think the 701 bolts only broke (?) due to extreme use, or not?

I guess it's a possibility Chris but the guy wasn't a heavy weight at all and he wasn't racing with any extra luggage systems etc. so I wouldn't expect it to break, even if he hit a few big jumps. I think the touring bikes go through a lot more abuse.

I fitted the Rade Garage storage solution. Works really well.

One issue with the kit, is that there is a large gap between the bracket and frame, so you need to make up some spacers.

I also added some foam to the cross bar it rests on in the front, and drilled a small hole in the tub to let water drain.

The fasteners I replaced with SS nuts and bolts too.

Can fit quite a bit of stuff in there.

Twin air system seems to be working very well to. No dust getting past. Just make sure to grease up the mating surface of the foam and filter unit.

thanks for feedback, was unaware; will advise RADE/GARAGE, and post any feedback here.

Uh Chris,

refer my mails to you regarding the Rade Tank (same thing, same bracket), you'll find those spacers need to be 4.8mm thick  ;)

hehe, thanks, trying to remember WHICH WD gave WHICH feedback.
the long article you wrote to us for Rade garage was WELL received by Rade - they do take note of possible product improvements, etc.

Can fit quite a bit of stuff in there.

Thanks for the confirmation SM, I expected so hence I have one on order also.
I don't often ride with the tank in it, and then some space for groceries will come in handy.
Plus I have some other tanks coming (https://specialthings.it/collections/husqvarna-701-enduro-parts/products/husqvarna-701-rally-tank-kit-with-seat-kit) for the real long trips, and then I may use it for storing some water.

Starting this thread to try and pull some 701 threads together. Will also leave some standalone.

Feel free to post here even if previously posted - keep it brief and pictorial if possible.

So mods thus far ...

Omega rally kit
Tail tidy (removing the large original one)
Rumbux luggage rack for my overnight trips
Engine case guard (in case chain snaps)
Modded side stand switch (I took it off and moved it to by the battery)
ABS dongle
Rade Storage kit
Anti vibration handle bar mounts
Steering damper
Paddock stand mounts

I fitted the rally-raid rear billet fuel cap, but you can't fill the tank with it. It just pisses out the overflow hole. It even pisses out when you fill the tank.
I bought the guglatech in tank filters, but it takes ages to fill the tank. I just take one with me, and use it if I think the fuel may be dirty.

Hi Mark - If you get a chance please shoot a pic or two of the relocation of the sidestand switch, seems a good solution rather than buying the dongle.

Did you do this as well?

Anyone fitted the 690/701 Hyde bashplate?
Their products are great but they have to have one of the worst websites in the industry (seem to be multiple old ones, dead links to product list etc)  ::)

Anyway this is the one: http://www.hyde.co.za/ABSG690/

Hyde are also notorious for no instructions! Maybe why their products are not more popular statesite and abroad (they do export though and seem to have a USA subsidary).

I had one fitted on my 610 and my RM. I like them but jeez please give us decent instructions.
