"you don't have to deal with KTM CT but rather Eddie2Race"

That sounds a bit ominous. Once I've bought a Yamaha I don't expect to see the dealer again.

Dealing with E2R is a pleasure, service is really good.

Between those 2 my choice would be a WR450R. Esp if no highway riding is planned.
I think the short service intervals are for guys that race.
Change the oil regularly and I reckon it will be fine for a long long time.

Same motor, different suspension and they ironed out one or two small bugs. The ergonomics on the bike however feels very different to the 690... but without doubt the biggest improvement is that you don't have to deal with KTM CT but rather Eddie2Race  :thumleft:

No reason you can't  send your 690 to Eddie2Race. I will for my next service.

WR, no contest.
Ek verstaan as jy n once off landspoed rekord wil opstel probeer jy limits push. Die ding kan maar breuk. Elke keer. Who cares.

Dan you know as well as anybody here that you cannot compare a 690 to 450/500 for adventure riding. The enduro bikes are too light and too maintenance intensive. I even miss the weight and therefore the stability of the SE over the 690. Get a 701, sort out the known issues, and it will do you well.

Thank you please

Not if it's still under warrantee you can't, the two brands are mutually exclusive. Ask me, I tried  ???

Yamaha's WR450F is a competition bike, and thus the guidelines for service and maintanance intervals can be doubled, even tripled if used like I am going to.

I really like the look of the Husky 701, but my common sense tells me the WR450 would be the better bike.

Dan, I think the WR with a cush would suit you a lot better. Besides, you can then keep on dissing all the bigger rides. ;D

You are right about the reliability - My 2010 WR race bike is still purring beautifully. Wondering if I need to take it in before the Amgeza.
You are right about the recommended service intervals are too short.
You are right about the price.
Comfort? Not needed where you will be riding.
Top speed? Not an issue. As grolls said a 14-48 can fix that anyway (with a new chain slider every few of 000`s km.)

The 700 is a great bike, but its a lot of weight to throw about IMO. Not worth it unless you want to do 180 on the dirt.

Happy birthday on Saturday! :thumleft:
