5 July 2008 - Some guys got together for an in promto intro into sandriding. What a day.... Some of these guys knew rocky terrain and some solid dirtroads, but not the type of roads you get between the meilielande in the western freestate. Am I right Raggety, Ztech, Willem? Is this the truth or not?

The day started of with a nice boere ontbyt with pap, biltong, kaas, plaasvars melk en lekker boeretroos. After brekkie was finished every one got himself a seat in front of the tellie to watch the rugbygame between the Bokke en die All Blacks. They actually lost interest very soon ... as soon as the first bike started outside, they came piling out like sheep. Who can ignore the call of adventure?

A young grade 9 bloke taught these blokes how to pick up a 1200GS the GP way and the Freestate way. Then every one got the chance to "dance" on his bike between the obstacles. Hips to this side and then to that side. Very nicely done, guys.  :p

Then came the challenge - SAND!! :mwink:

Some took their ego's with them to face the sandmonster and others left it at home. Shame on you okes who took it with. Just ask Willem what happened...... :dousing:

Burrie showed off his skills with his dad's 1200GS ( he wrote his own 1100GS off a month ago) Plaster still on his right arm he couldn't stay off a bike. He's been for formal offroad skills training and can show some of the more experienced guys a thing or two. He's a complete natural. His poor mom......

Around 15h00 the okes gathered and decided it's time to head home for the much awaited and longed for braaivleis and colddrinks.

The weatheran's prediction came true and the coldfront moved in with a vengeance......tempratures dropped from a very comforable 24 degrees to 12 degrees within a hour. OUCH!!! These guys still had to travel between 100 and 200km to get home.

What a great time all had, and for those who still had their ego's intact afterwards - Good for you! But shame to the guys who lost theirs to the sandmonster.....you'll have to come back and retrieve it again.

PS Pics follow shortly! Sorry!
