What a bummer....does your entry carry over for next year?

No it would not. All the expenses have been made , staff paid etc.

At best we can hope for direct entry to 2018 and not having to go through the entry lottery. But I doubt if even that will happen.

I'm hoping for the automatic entry next year.  Felt so sorry for those who travelled - The lady parked behind me burst into tears, they had driven down from  Krugersdorp just for the Tour.

If you collected your race number at the expo this year, you'll get a preferential entry for 2018. But you'll still pay, (R510.00 plus inflation).

So in 3 years I've only succeeded in doing 47 km of Argus riding,   2015 shortened, 2016 did not get a entry, 2017 cancelled  :3some: ::) :eek7: :ricky:

Mooi man Hano! It was a brilliant day for riding. Did it  in 4:25 - 5 min off my target. Saw the guy with nothing on: "What I won't go through - for you!" he said after complaining about his butt :pot:
Sad about the guy who had a heart attack. I went past while they were massaging his heart. At least he went enjoying life.

I did mine last in '88, '89 and 90.  '88 was 5:03, '89 was 4:10 and '90 was 4:01.  Will never do it again though.

I was in the batch 1A crash where the guy passed away, we were doing about 45-50kmh on the wineberg road close to uct when it all fell apart, the guy crashed right in front of me I swerved and clipped his rear wheel when the bike was already on the ground and I got smashed from the left side after swerving, I managed to stay upright but am missing skin on my knee from being crashed into. It's the most horrific sound hearing 20+ people crash behind you, we carried on riding and alerted the medics up ahead, unbeknown to us it was a fatal crash. Horrible race, will never do it again, or at least won't ride upfront again. Everyone is a hometown hero in the front groups and it's extremely dangerous you basically spend 3 hours not getting taken out.

At last I got to ride the Argus.....4th time lucky and what a excellent day :ricky: ! A fun day.... and that is the way to do it, no agro riding, no bumping, just a cool ride with the spectators all cheering, braaing and shooting chirps :imaposer: .....RIP those that did not make it. :(
I will be back next year, for another chill fun ride ! 5h58

Lekker Briv.

Next big one for me now is the Karoo2Coast in September.

Have some work to do and weight to loose before then.

That sounds like a close call indeed. Glad you made it - I can just imagine how it felt being bounced from one side to the other while others are crashing behind you. My fastest was 3:30 so I never rode in these high performance bunches, but I can just think how competitive it is.
