What is a modern day legend bike?

Apart from the XT500, very few duelies became legends.

So maybe:
Fireblade
R1
Gsxr
KTM 950 Adv
Ducati Diavel
Hyabusa.

I like the list but I am not sure how you going to choose between the CBR over the R1 over the GSXR and of late the RR as well. It seems every 2 years another one of those is crowned as the best. Hiyabusha on the other hand stands apart as something iconic with a big following.

Take the 1985 Suzuki GSX-R as an example.

For years thousands of people have been merrily abusing these fabulous machines, and many have been written off, or converted to destruction.

Which is all good, because it simply helps it along to certain legend status.

For years these bikes could be had for a penny, but times are changing.

A bike released a few months ago does not have time to reach legend status.
The word 'legend' implies something older.
Therefore a modern day legend is not very,  very old,  just old.
1 year is not old.

He is talking about what will be a legend in 20 years time. The  AT will be 20 years old in 20 years

Back to my 1985 GSX-R example....they were released and immediately started ruling racing, making them instant legends.
